The Verdict
based on 10 reviews
“The production here is gorgeous, it's beautiful. Uh, the Egyptian theme, which I'm not usually that fond of, does come to life here to some degree. This is a great production, but it is a fantastic game.”(11:51)
“It's a [Knizia] classic that of a lot of the games on this list it's one that I don't get to the table very often and I hope to in the near future, but if you haven't had a chance to play [Amun-Re], this is another one that is a classic”
“A very solid design uh the good reputation that it gained was perfectly earned in my opinion definitely a strong design definitely a strong Euro game one of the best games in its category that I play in quite a while”(22:02)
“This is a great, fantastic auction game, one of the best out there. Again, I still prefer Raw, but if you're looking for a deeper, more strategic auction game, you will probably be more satisfied with Amun Ray.”(7:56)
“This new version should be a great opportunity for new board gamers to experience a great auction game from 2003. The quality of the game has been known for awhile, and I’m glad that this new version gave me an excuse to get it back on the table.”
“So i definitely recommend the game uh the new components everything are definitely an upgrade from uh the previous one and uh the board's nice and thick and sturdy and the card artwork is fine and everything”(15:19)
“There aren't any mechanics here that necessarily blew me away uh but as an area control uh an auction game it's extremely tightly and welld designed uh I enjoyed it quite a bit could be a little more thematic but overall it's it's a very good game I would recommend”(11:25)
“So, Amun-Re is lots of fun to play, extremely punishing, and looks breath-taking on the table for the most part.”
“If you love the original, the new one is just a step up, and if you want to try an iconic game from 20 years ago, this is the best way to do it. The best thing about this game is the change over between eras; that's what makes Amun-Re a great game.”(3:23)
“This game is an acquired taste but I feel like once you once you really get into it you really finally realize it clicks and like okay I like this you like it a lot like you first time you ever have coffee and you're like oh that's gross”(18:57)
