“Cyclades is one of my group's favorite games. I really enjoy it and highly recommend it. It has meaningful decisions, great mechanics and is well designed. I think everyone should try this game and that most gamers should have it in their collection.”

“If people like bidding games, this is a no-brainer for them to add to their collection. It is unique — it is unique in the way that it applies an interesting bidding system into this area control mechanic.”(15:23)

“I don't have many games like this because when a game takes 3 hours and requires all this setup and rules understanding it really has to earn that time from you, but [Cyclades] totally does, and I can't wait to play it again.”

“Every aspect of this games combines to make something excellent that I can thoroughly recommend to anyone, not just those other mythology nerds out there like myself. The mechanics of Cyclades are so quick to learn you’ll be up and playing in no time, and I have had a blast every time I’ve played.”

“Overall then, Cyclades remains relevant today. It is almost certainly still in the top ten area control games out there. I also enjoy Kemet, Blood Rage, Cry Havoc, The Godfather and quite a few other games of this kind, but Cyclades is unique enough to compete, and frankly I can't wait to try the other expansions.”

“I think Cyclades is still a keeper because of the competitive intensity that erupts near the end of the game and the fantastic theming.”

“To be clear, I've had a wonderful time with Cyclades: Legendary Edition. I wouldn't call it inferior to the original. Its improvements are real and numerous. But so too are its deviations, some of which usher the game along uncharted paths.”

“But as a base game I say I recommend it, with the asterisk that people just go into it knowing that there could be some weirdness, the end could be a bit odd, and it's, in general, it's worth it overall.”(19:28)

Board Game Critique, Board Game CritiqueVideo

“If you want pure area control simplicity with cleanest design, buy [Cyclades]. Auction system is elegant, turn structure predictable. You can teach it in 20 minutes, but it's somewhat less replayable after 10 to 15 plays.”(18:20)
