Mechs vs. Minions is a cooperative campaign board game set in the world of Runeterra where players take on the roles of Yordles (Corki and others) programming their own mechs to move, attack, and battle against hordes of tiny minion enemies.
The Verdict
based on 20 reviews
“When Riot Games announced their 2016 foray into the tabletop genre, there were a lot of rolling eyes and low expectations. But boy did they deliver.”
“Powers and abilities, cooperative and action programming, complete madness all makes Mechs and Minions well one of my favorite cooperative games.”
“Simply put, Mechs vs. Minions is a fantastic gaming experience and one of the best cooperative board games I've ever played. Everything looks great on the table and the guys over at Riot Games found a way to make a different type of programming that works extremely well as a co-op game.”
“[Mechs vs. Minions] is an amazing programming game with some drafting built in. You're leveling up your [mechs]; sometimes you're going to be super powerful on one thing, like you can chain lightning and kill five minions in one turn.”(1:18)
“The game is amazing, bonkers, out of this world amazing, but let me go through a couple caveats, then I can jump into gushing like a child about it.”(13:35)
“Well, I quite honestly right now it's probably my favorite game right this second. Now, how will hold up 3 months for 4 months from now, I'm not sure. Yeah, but right now it's just the game.”(11:51)
“In other respects, though, Mechs vs Minions is an absolute triumph. Its production quality sets a new standard for the tabletop gaming industry, making even the biggest, shiniest releases from competitors look a little bit cheap by comparison.”
“Mechs vs Minions is everything a board game should be: a pleasure to look at and handle, mechanically gripping, easy to understand, thematically inviting and never frustrating or boring. Every element has clearly been made with care and results in a standout experience on the tabletop – regardless of your feelings or interest in League of Legends.”
“It's absolutely Stellar mexan minions like I said odds on favorite for top 10 of the year um and I don't think I'll be alone in that in all honesty”(12:35)
“The story, the gameplay, and the tactility of smashing waves and waves of minions far outweigh all of the negatives the game has. Even if it sometimes does overstay it's welcome.”
“The game is very very fun, the programming aspect is fun, it's a great game, it's gonna challenge people. So if you like competitive — not competitive, but challenging cooperative games — this is the one.”(26:03)
“[Mechs vs. Minions] is a game I think deserves far more attention than it gets nowadays. It was one of the first big hobby games I bought when I got back into board gaming and the amount of content and production quality in the box is still impressive.”
